Love this book! And I love Gaskell's writing. She is personable, makes endearing characters, and gives them the ability to laugh at themselves. The predicament Mr. Harrison finds himself in by simply being a friendly (and handsome) young man is funny and sad at the same time. Knowing myself how hard it can be to acclimate to a new environment, I understood how the doctor felt in trying to make friends and be personable. His story is very entertaining and enjoyable! Another great book by Gaskell is Cranford. Such a funny and engaging story.

Mr Harrison Confessions Elizabeth Gaskell 9781444817492 Books Reviews

I love Elizabeth Gaskell's writing, so yes, I enjoyed this book tremendously. Wish she'd written even more than the few novels she did.
I am giving this particular printing of Gaskell's novella one star because of the sloppy editing (or lack of) of this book. Did anyone even bother proofreading the story before putting it in print? Shameful.
Mr. Harrison's Confessions, is the continuation of one character from, "Cranford".
This is a very good short story, especially if you have read the book or seen the movie, "Cranford."

Martha W. Bowles
This should be required reading for students of Literature and/or writing to help them develop their own personal writing style. It's short but very sweet and entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoy everything Elizabeth Gaskell wrote. This is another one of those bedtime books to read just before dropping off to sleep. Mrs. Gaskell writes lovely stuff.
Gaskell's story is superb--funny, sweet, and a little sad, but this edition was maddening in the number of typos and in the layout. The dialogue was presented in a very amatuerish fashion, and the paragraphing and use of italics was inconsistent and awkward.
Delightful story. I read it because I knew it was one of the 3 novels they used to develop the Cranford mini series. Mrs. Gaskell does not disappoint! It really comes across as a 19th RomCom!
